It can be challenging to get started as a writer. Whether it’s a failure, self-doubt, criticism, or something else, we’ve all faced challenges in our writing careers. As a writer, you might compare your work to great books with complex characters and terrific plot arcs – books that engross you so much that you cannot put them down. “Why would anyone read my novel when another author’s book is so much better?” is the question at the back of your mind.
But here’s the thing: there’s a catch. On the other hand, those authors have been writing for what, ten years? They now have a contract with a publisher, an editor, beta readers, and others to help them with their work. However, they shared the same worries and doubts when they first began writing. Above all, actual authors write to satisfy their creative needs. It’s a magnificent and extraordinary calling that requires all of one’s strength and intellect to pursue.
Without question, there will be challenges along the path. Therefore, Rifat Ahmed has offered some of hers, which he believes are universal; Rifat is a well-regarded author and Manager at Deftyled, a reputable marketing firm with offices worldwide. He has worked in the field of writing for a long time. Following graduation, he pursued a career in writing and was hired by Cyber Barta, The Business Standard, and the Green Leaf Air, among others. He also happens to be a member of the Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation, where he works on cybercrime seminars and events and performs cybercrime research.
So, here are some challenges he has shared that you may experience as a writer, but don’t worry—you’re not alone. All authors have been in a difficult situation. Let’s face the fears, uncertainties, and problems head-on today,
- The fear of not being good enough
You go over your manuscript again and find it wanting regarding everything. You think it’s a complete disaster. You’re going to toss it in the trash; stop! Do not toss it in the trash. Not yet. Is this your first publication? Let’s face it, almost every author’s first publication is a disaster. You’ve only just begun. You must revise, determine what is wrong with your work and devise a strategy to correct it. Convert your skepticism into action.
- Writer’s Block
You’re in a bind. You slam your head onto the table, but no thoughts come to you. So, you’ve run out of options. What is the plot of your story? Do you have a plot at all? Consider what you’re writing. Are you working on a horror novel? Fantasy? Romance? Sci-fi? Do something that motivates you, and go somewhere you can generate fresh thoughts. Take a walk or a drive to get away from the computer. Visit a location that makes you happy, sad, or inspired. Visit a site that evokes powerful feelings in you.
- You have difficulty controlling inspiration
You get a burst of creativity. Perhaps an image of a person or feeling you feel compelled to express. Consider how you can incorporate this into your story. What was this person’s personality like? Is there a long scar on her cheek? What was her character like? Are you secretive, chilly, and aloof? Is this a subsidiary character or a primary figure for you? When, where, and how might this be included in your story? Please note it and attempt to think of a way to incorporate it into your narrative.
- You do not know how to begin
You’ve got fantastic ideas and are ready to start writing, but you’re stumped about how to start. Well, you are not required to begin at the beginning. If you like, you can write from the beginning to the finish. Begin with the scene that gives you the most energy. Are you looking forward to the conclusion of your story? That should come first. Don’t be concerned about the start. All you need to do is begin writing.
It is challenging to write. You have the power to transform people with every word, sentence, and paragraph you write. To do so, you don’t have to write nonfiction. You can motivate others. Readers may turn to your characters in times of need. Which is what every writer aspires to. You will make it. All you have to do now is trust in yourself!
